I've just put my new album "Become The Sea Itself" up on Nimbit for digital download as .mp3 or .wav on a name-your-price basis. Get there and download it!!!
It's out!!! My new ambient music album "Become The Sea Itself" is out today on Bandcamp. You can hear it here on the player on the Sound and Vision page.
I think it's my best work to date, but they all say that....
My new ambient/chill album will be called "Become The Sea Itself" and will be released next week, all being well. For now, I've put a couple of taster tracks up on Soundcloud :-)
Soundcloud have started offering Internet "radio" streams. I've set up a YnotB radio that plays music similar to mine. Great to chill to. Check it out :-)
Sad news indeed. Ray wilson of Music From Outer Space passed away on 21st July after battling cancer.
His approach of providing readily available designs, parts, kits and generous advice to home synth builders was inspirational. He will be greatly missed.
Getting quite excited about the new album. 9 tracks are basically finished and playing it through; I'm very happy with it. Great to chill to :-). Hope to release it in the coming weeks - working title "It's an ambient world"
Raining here so decided to do a bit of work on this website. I've added a few new instruments to the My Gear Page and updated a couple of little bits.
The new ambient/chill album is taking shape - am busy writing and recording whenever possible...........
I'm currently working on my next album that will (most probably) be purely of ambient music. In the last few weeks I've put 2 new ambient pieces up on Soundcloud (follow the orange cloud link under my beautiful ;-( portrait photo to see my Soundcloud site). I'm very much enjoying working in this genre at the moment - it offers fascinating possibilities for the application of music theory and the creation of mood and atmosphere. Eyes peeled for more coming soon :-)
I've just opened a new online store to promote and sell my music. I've decided to put everything up there at a 'name your price' price tag. Currently only Shake A Leg is available there, but I will soon expand it to offer all of my music to date. You can find it here;
Elsewhere on this site, I list my influences. In reality, it all boils down to Bowie and Eno. A sad day.
My new 5-track EP "Shake a Leg" is now available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify and all other good digital sources. Enjoy :-)
I've just released an EP entitled "Shake a Leg". It's decidedly more up tempo than my other solo work, and I genuinely feel it's my best and most accessible music to date. At the moment it's only available from Bandcamp, here;
The full release via the usual sources will follow.....
Found this "interview" with Brian Eno. Love it. Thought I'd share
It seems Ray Wilson, the man behind the fantastic Music From Outer Space DIY synth business is ill with cancer. This is bad news indeed. I have done limited business with him, but during that, gained an impression of him as being one of this world's good guys. As he and his wife are both self-employed and therefore have limited health insurance coverage, there is a fund-raising site to try to help support them through these difficult times.
Please suppport them if you can.
Discount news first. - I've put a special offer up for my music downloads from Bandcamp. You can now download my entire discography at a discount of 50%. In real terms this means 2 albums, 1 ep and 2 singles, all for the bargain price of €7 or equivalent. Follow the links in the players on my Sound and Vision page to access my pages on Bandcamp :-)
In the other news, I've just had my sax repadded, serviced and set up. Excellent work and fair pricing carried out by Saxophon Kühl in Germany. I recommend them highly :-)
I've put a few new tracks on Soundcloud recently. They're mainly instrumentals, but perhaps show the direction I'm moving in and the musical things that are interesting me at the moment. Still have lots of plans and ideas for different things though. Really want to do some new ambient stuff and maybe some trance-like tracks.... We'll see.
Anyhow, I've now posted those Soundcloud tracks on the Sound and Vision page here. Hope you enjoy :-)
My new album "Out of the Moloch" is now available from iTunes. You can access the iTunes UK site here:
Otherwise a quick search will find your local iTunes site :-)
So we're into 2015. I'm currently working on a new album and it's getting towards completion. Think I'm pleased with it. Also working on one or two tracks together with Ewane, so all in all things are progressing. I've also invested in a new studio computer witha much faster processor and plenty of RAM, and a new ESI interface. Have posted a couple of demo versions of new tracks on soundcloud. Eyes and ears open for new music!
The other day there was a knock on the door which turned out to be hiphop and rap artist Ewane. He also played the Barnstedt musikmeile, heard about what I do and made the effort to come by. We exchanged ideas, listened to what each other does and the upshot is that we're gonna try and do some music together. Wait and see!
So, we played twice at the Barnstedt Musikmeile benefit thing last Sunday. I think we did ok; the first set was probably better than the second one, but, all in all, fine. It was announced that the fundraising aspect was successful, and that most certainly is the main thing. The gig was to raise funds to help asylum seekers currently housed in the village, to cover things like translators and legal costs. I imagine a lot of places are in the same boat these days, with asylum seekers from Sudan and Somalia being spread out through Germany. As far as I can tell, the official funding isn't what it could be, so, whatever we can do to help is good.
It's great to see people willingly helping people despite language and cultural differences. We need to grow towards seeing ourselves as one race and not concentrating on petty regional differences as somehow often seems to be the case.
Here's a link to the website of the Barnstedt Musikmeile where I'll be performing 2 live sets on 7th Sept.
I'll be on stage performing some music at the benefit gig for asylum seekers in Barnstedt on 7th September. According to current planning, I'll be on twice; once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Hazel Pearl will be singing a couple of our songs and I think I'll be joined on stage by EB and KerryB. Looking forward to it :-)
After much umming and aahhing, I've decided not to play the Facebook game anymore. I've deleted that page. Bored with it :-O
So please don't "like" me with the blue "F" button.
